Hello, my wonderful newsletter audience. Today, I am here to rant. Or yap. Anyhow. Today's newsletter is not about anything in particular. I'm not going to pay attention to like, structural edit and grammar and all that. I'm just here to write whatever comes to mind.
First of all, I know I haven't been consistent. Not really. I'm not going to say it's a creative block or a writer's block, but maybe it is. I have the ideas, in fact, I have a lot of ideas. The problem now is to actually write. Every time I open Substack, I check my writer's dashboard, sigh, and close the app. And I can't say I feel bad about it.
Writing is something I really enjoy doing. I don't see it as a chore, or something I HAVE to do. I don't know why, but giving myself deadlines or a particular cycle of updating my newsletter makes it feel like a chore. Or maybe I'm just being lazy? If you're a writer and you have tips on how to overcome this, or just tops on getting over a writer's block (yes, I'm calling it a writer’s block now) please let me know in the comments section. Thank you.
That being said, why's it that men pee on walls in public, and nobody says anything?
I understand that you can get really pressed and all that, but I feel like there are just other ways they can do it instead of peeing on walls or something. Yesterday (or was it the day before?) I saw a man peeing on the walls near the gate of a primary school. The children were pointing and laughing, I legit heard one of them say “see his totoros.”
None of the adults there said anything, and I wanted to scream. In fact, *skrimsssss*
My heart goes out to the women in Kenya, the rate of femicide there right now is sad, to say the least. But trust men to make it about women. “Women should be more careful” abi “women should not anger men” abi “women need to learn their lessons. Men have short temper” abi “women should know that men have fragile ego.” Men should stop killing women, how about that?
For years, women have had to adapt to the standards that men have put in place. We have modified the way we talk, the clothes we wear, our dreams and aspirations and even our feminity itself. But the abuse have not stopped. Women still get harassed by men, men still rape women (and when we talk about it, they'll say men get raped too) and men still kill women.
And this is another reminder that if you have never harassed or abused a woman, you're not good, or special. You're normal.
Also, let's talk about female friendships. As a woman, I feel like It's important to have female friends that genuinely want the best for you, even if it's just one. You know, another woman that you can genuinely talk to about everything that's going on in your life. Someone that won't be jealous of your achievements or anything. Just a woman (or women) that you can feel completely safe around.
Yes, it can be hard. Female friendships come with “drama” but I feel like once you find your own people (or person) life is just.. easier. I hope you find your own set of genuine friends, my dear newsletter audience💗🌹
I found a tweet about calling book lovers bookworms instead of something cool like book dragon (found out this means someone that hoards books?) And I actually agree. Like, why are we worms? Why can't I be a butterfly or something? Fine girl like me, worm? Ahahn✋😾
Book butterfly had a very nice ring to it, if you ask me. Also, f you like reading African fantasy/mythology books like me, you should check out Daughters of Nri. I like it. Also, children of blood and bone book three is out. Yayyy.
I don't think I can talk about books and not talk about A Thousand Splendid Suns (or any book by Khalid Hosseni) if I start now, I won't stop anytime soon. But if you read books, read that book.
Also, I don't know if our taste in music is similar, but I think Black Friday by Tom Odell is a very pretty song. It's like, very.. I can't find the words to describe it, but yeah.. It's pretty.

Speaking of pretty, i got a pink journal. Lately, I've been obsessed with Pink. It's probably what I get from spending a lot of time on Pinterest. I think Pink is a very pretty color, in summary.
I was going to make a separate post about this, but I'm super excited. I'm very close to reaching 300 subscribers, and that's a big win for me. I'm genuinely happy about it, and I'm using this opportunity to say a big, fat thank you to my newsletter audience. Muah!🤭🌷
Also, this is something I'm genuinely curious about. How do men feel when they're in love? I know how women say they get butterflies in their stomach and all that, but how is it for men? Do they get butterflies too? Do they giggle and blush when they think about their partners? Something? Anything?
I've read books, and I know how it's described and all, but I'm still curious. What does it feel like? Let me know in the comments section?
I recently found out that some people bleach the skin of their children to make them “more beautiful” and that's wild. Bleach your own skin if you want (that's also wild, btw) but a child's skin?? What is wrong with people? What happened to melanin popping?😔✋
Oh, and.. I think it's cute when people romanticize little things. Maybe that's why I love Pinterest so much? I just love when people find joy in the small things they would usually overlook. I think we should all romanticize our lives as much as we can.
But then again, this dollar rate does not want to gree for anybody. If I tell somebody that's struggling to get three square meals because of the outrageous prices of things these days, shey that person won't curse me? 😔
Guys, you know when you're really excited about something, and you tell someone about it, only for the person to make you feel like a fool or something like that? I hate when people do that. A lot. I hope people with child-like excitement never lose the light in their eyes though. I hope you find someone that'll always listen to you🤭
You know those cute, digital camera-ish pictures that people take with their phones? I found an app! It's called Fomz. You get to choose from different lenses and all that, and it's a very cute app. You can even make little notes beside the pictures you take and all, and you can get polaroid-ish stuff from it. I think you should check it out? If you want..
That's all, for now. Substack is already giving me side eye about the length of this newsletter, so yeah😭 Thank you for reading my rant/yap session. Remember to like, subscribe and leave a comment. Feel free to share and restack too.
Bye, kizzes.🤭❤️
Oh, and remember to moisture your lips, use Vaseline, and use deodorants. Bye bye.
I enjoyed following your meanderings here. Do you do the drawings yourself?
When I get writer's block. I don't see it as a problem. Rather an opportunity to read more books. I love writing and I'll hate to make it a chore. Every other thing in my life is, and they've gradually become boring lol
