It's like every aspect of our lives has become a money-making scheme, even down to religion.
Me: Capitalism, go away.
Capitalism:
If you're new here, hiii. My name is Najwa, and I write whatever goes on in my head, fictional or not. Do well to subscribe to my newsletter so you'll get notified when I send out new ones.
If you're a returning subscriber, once again, no hi for you people today. Which one of you brought up the idea of doing ramadan package???
I opened tiktok this morning, to mind my business. Capitalism laughed in my face and said “not today.” First post on my FYP? “Get your luxury ramdan packages now!” Second post? “Pack a ramadan package order with me!” What is wrong with you people? Is this coming from a place of jealousy? Maybe (it is) but that is not your business.
But seriously though-
It's kind of funny to me that everything is so commercialised. It's like every aspect of our lives has become a money-making scheme, even down to religion.
On one hand, I want to fight the system, but on the other hand, if someone gifts me a beautifully packaged pink box with pashmina scarves and handwritten dua cards? Will I complain? No, when I'm not mad😭✋🏾
But that is the dilemma: Why are we marketing Ramadan like it's a black Friday event? But then again, I understand giving your loved ones these gifts to support them in their fasting.
That being said, capitalism must crumble, but if you see me unboxing a pink box and shinning my teeth, mind your business, I should not slap your face danu.
It's currently 5:30, and once again, I have showered like one million times today. Everywhere is hot and my head wants to blow. Send help.
Sha, this is day 3 of my 12 days of newsletters challenge. Don't play with me. Those of you that view my newsletters without engaging, I want you to know that one day, I'll do my own back.👍🏾
Najwa, Hauwa?
Everything is now sooo commercialised. It's why I identify as a socialist.
